It is easy to be misled by the measured quality and respectfulness with which Paul Pietroski deals with his subject matter into thinking that it is not what it in fact is—- a radical and provocative defence of the claim that truthbased theories of meaning are inadequate to the task, and should now be abandoned, i.e. the claim in D is false.
